The Call

Call.

Don’t call.

I can’t call.

You don’t know me anymore.

I’m just some stranger on the telephone.

Call.

I hear the recurrent cues of a mind confused.

I hear the fumbling to remember who I am.

I hear the soft laughter to jokes you wish you could understand.

I hear the ‘I love you’ but I don’t hear you.

Don’t call.

I lose the sound of your voice each passing day.

I lose the proof of your existence.

I lose the comfort of your being.

I lose you.

I can’t call.

But I miss you.

I hope you can forgive me too.
