The Abyss

By John SwanPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

The darkness, it surrounds me

Growing darker everyday

I feel the warmth of hope

Leaving my body and soul

Replaced only by the cold hard truth..

Happiness is quickly fading

Slipping slowly away

The crevice grows deeper...

Weren't we just up there?

Clouds swarm in like dragons

Whose fire is gone

Blotting out the skies

Even the stars have gone to hide

The light...

Only a tiny single point in the past

The darkness...

Wraps its arms around me

Enclosing me in a funeral shroud

It'll all be over in a few moments

As I slip deeper..

And tumble farther into the abyss
