Tell me

She says quietly

Peace is written in the notes of citrus

Laced with vanilla in her hair

A Dove flies in the sky above us

A steak of white across a canvas of blue

Her hand grips my coat, and I hold on

For dear life, because she's already

Made me fall

~

Music from a guitar and a smoky voice

Play softly in the air around us

A light breeze blows loose a strand

Of brown streaked with blonde

A car horn breaks the tension

Building in our electric air

My fingers reach up, and

She whisper’s the words

As I tuck the strand behind her ear

~

The rest of the World dips and falls away

The sounds of the city bustling by us disappear

Her breath rests warm against my neck

Goosebumps rise on my arms

And I know

This is the moment

Where I became hers

~

The first time her blue eyes saw mine

The way she smiled that day at the park

The soft feel of her lips

The touch of her hands

The sound of her voice singing

To my heart with every word

She’s ever said, dance

Inside of me

~

Behind her shoulder, the moon climbs

Up into the changing dusk sky

"Tell me", she says quietly

People pass all around, unaware

Of their witness to

My confession

~

Somewhere miles to the east

The ocean is coming in with the tide

In waves that crash and break against

The shore covering the grains of sand

The same way her love has

Crashed and covered

Every part of me

~

She looks up with a glow

Shining on her skin

Her lips turn up in a smile

Blue eyes capture brown

The stars twinkle above

A million spotlights

To highlight the words

~

Our lips are almost touching

When I decide

She doesn't have to wait

Any more, and I tell her

What my heart already

Knows

"I love you"
