Tears of Sorrow in Gaza's Dust

a poem

Bullets fly and children cry

In the streets of Gaza town

Homes lie broken, dreams unspoken

As missiles rain their fire down

---

Mothers weeping, watchers keeping

Sleepless vigil through the night

Clenched fists rise to smoke-filled skies

Seeking peace with all their might

---

Darkness falls on Gaza's walls

As the wounded moan their pain

Politicians dodge, help is slow to lodge

And violence blooms again

---

People pray for a brighter day

When hate and fear are overcome

When children play and peace will stay

The nightmare conflict done

---

For now tears of sorrow damp Gaza's dust

Her people yearn for the right to just live

Pray their cries may yet find the ears of the wise

And the gift of peace again they'll receive.
