Tale of Iniko and Chasing Time:
Narrative poem in Collaboration with Penn Mysteries
Iniko, time is neutral, chase it!
everybody has it-
Somebody can use it;
Anybody can abuse it-
Impatiently minute hands
wait for nobody..
Would you give up on me,
When the love,
that once taste like honey-
Stir up more sweeter than bile.
Boy, not even when
you throw a temper tantrum like a child—
looking like Thora
tossing someone else’s
garden over the wall of paradise
swinging a hammer like Ogun
As we hammer things out!
My hands would pluck a fresh forget me not, from the ground...
Iniko time is a seed, of baobab tree
It can become ripe, chase it!
Fresh and attractive like lemonade,
Even hallowed out,
when wasted and not harvested,
cannot be regained.
Iniko time is precious, chase it!
Avoid the long thoughts
Of wariness, stressing;
glances over what we failed to do,
Don't starve yourself with confusion...
Escape as you can find, is
presently
glance over what we've done.
Maximize every moments,
be onlookers...
Iniko, time is memories, chase it!
Would you give up on me,
When we see joy no more,
When the beauty trail,
is filled with bins
She shook her head in denial
Not even in times of trouble, would I-
Lines, are drawn
It can be days naw weeks
Lines, are crossed
It can be months naw years
Lines, stretch like
It can be seconds-
minutes naw hours,
all of our memorable smiles
Let the path fade,
when our bodies be frail,
and give in
as condors circle
I would never
wish to live a second without you...
