social commentary
There's a rich history of poetry serving as social commentary, intended to inspire calls to action.

Forgive me if I think we have bigger things to worry about than renaming bodies of water. That is not to say that I agree with the changes, but to say they shouldn't be happening in the first place. People are dying; dying of preventable diseases, parasites, symptoms of deregulation our ancestors learned we required decades ago, but Grandma Debra grew up afraid of the cities because that's where the black and brown people live , so she can't remember the smog and pollution, and little Johnny didn't pay attention in history class, so he falls victim to right-wing propaganda, and here we are learning that lesson again. I didn't sign up to find out what happens when we undo generations of progress. I didn't need to learn the miseries of our history firsthand; unlike the magats living their nationalist dreams, cheering on each step toward society's demise, I can read.

midnight musings
staring at the moon so intently it doubles vision wanders with thought the others staring at the moon this witching hour brings the ponderers do they also exclaim I am a facet of the all I am a separate piece of a whole so I can know of self and others to feel less alone staring at the moon because knowing I am the observer of the moon and also the moon is far too great a loneliness to bear are we all asking why am I here or are others more assured than I the isolation of ego could kill

V+ Poet
The poems of Marie flow like babbling brooks Soothing to the soul, peaceful and charming Goodness resides in her heartwarming lines, bringing vivid pictures to mind My mother’s namesake, both women full of artistry Marie in the UK deserves to be read and the joy of her poetry spread Do her the favor of having a look I promise you will get hooked. She prompted me with a poem of colors And gave me a song that lools through A blind child’s eyes, and sees all the hues Attached to nature and its views.
