Dangerous Braids.... Top Story - September 2026.
I feel so pretty... But what is up with this itch? Are braids the culprit? A/N Controversy On YouTube I've recently seen multiple braid wearers publicly complain about the adverse side effects associated with synthetic braiding hair. Synthetic braiding hair is commonly used for popular braid styles primarily advertised to Black women. Hives, acne, itchy skin, thinning edges, and even nose bleeds were reported via YouTube video testimonies. Personal Experience Several days ago, I noticed that my neck would itch badly every time my braids touched the skin on my neck. I was initially bummed because I always feel like a princess/movie star when I leave my braider's chair, but deep down I know that vanity and convenience are not worth dealing with the allergic reactions associated with using synthetic braiding hair.

The Sound of Your Absence
We fight and we fight But when you are at last gone That’s when the doves cry Author’s Note: This is day two of the fifty-day song/lyric-inspired haiku challenge for me. Today’s song is “When Doves Cry” by Prince, which you can listen to below.

La Belle et Le Bête
The Beauty stands out All on her own—where is he? Her angel, the Beast Author’s Note: Well, I’ve noticed Paul Stewart and others jumping on the fifty-day song-based haiku challenge, so I thought that I might give it a try. I might not do all fifty days since I have a day job that distracts me, but I’ll do my best.
