Systems convey

Messages

Did you know?

Because I didn't

Until I took a step back

And listened to the track

Of society

Toxicity

I heard that first

But how was it conveyed?

In what tone and what way?

I listened some more

And found in the swaying tunes

Insecurity

I saw it before me, crystal clear

It preyed on worry, loss and fear

It caught the heart when most distressed

And made it feel so small and less

Than others

Toxicity

Comes in many flavours

It can be the ad with the picture perfect face

Or the fads that make you question faith

Or even the book that you read in your room

It carries some message of how you won’t bloom

Because you're different

Your not that character in that book

Your experience is individual and so misunderstood

It's not in that story

Not in that chapter

No page contains your pain or rapture

It talks to you

Though you don't know

And tells you that your world is forlorn

But please listen

Because I’m here to say

Society won't break you

Not today

Not today

You’re unique

But society calls it weird

Your a dazzling gem

But they call it a distraction

You're a light

But they say you're a fright

But please don't beleieve them,

they

just

can't

see

That you’re more than a pathology

Or a minority

Or a number

Or a face

Or a character

Not a headline nor a cover

Not a etcetera or an other

You are

A star

That glimmers in the dark

You are a beacon, if you only knew

Your pain and drain were never without Truth

To guide them

To make them

Meaningful

You are so much more that what they say

You are a soul, I wish I could stay

To convince you of your worth

Because so many believe

They're not worth another's time

Well listen,

Because you’re

worth mine.

They don't know you

Don't let them dare break you

They're trying to

Silence you

But hold on

Hold on

We are hear to stand

Together

Hold my hand

Hold my hand

Society

Speaks in many tongues

Remember that you must have listened to some

And internalized its loud, clashing gongs

Of judgement;

This is not a song

What I hear is a deathly call

Not a tune

But a grieving fall

Of a soul

Of hopes

Of dreams

Of life

I am here

To remind you

That though there is strife

There isn't despair

There isn't disrepair

There is a way out

So empower your souls

Give light to the calls within you

Show them who you are

Not who they think you are

Because trust me they're wrong

Because I know you're strong

And I know you have a truth to convey

All you need is a

Hey!

You’re beautiful

You’ve been given the unthinkable

A beautiful soul

And through that a role

To give

Your light

To speak

Your right

To show

Your beautiful reality

Your wonderful personality

Your gifted ability

To be

Precious

Remember this when hope feels far

You aren't a word

You are

A Star
