An
elderly
couple
in
the
crosswalk
is
moving
achingly
slow
but
as
fast
as
they
can
go
they’re
holding
hands
he
has
a
cane
she
is
a
bit
hunched
over
they’re
both
wearing
heavy
sweaters
even
though
it’s
summer
they
pause
for
a
moment
to
watch
the
pigeons
gather
the
crumbs
that
are
strewn
about
in
front
of
them
they
smile
to
each
other
and
every
second
every
minute
seems
to
bring
them
closer
together
and
to
their
ultimate
destination
in
anticipation
of
the
curb
ahead
she
gently
takes
his
arm
guiding
him
safely
gracefully
to
the
walkway
where
they
collect
themselves
momentarily
instinctually
and
simultaneously
they
clasp
hands
and
continue
on
their
journey

Hello,
I was living in a remote cabin when covid-19 lockdown hit. I began writing a poem every day as a writing project and have continued on from there. Thank you so much for reading my work and for your feedback.

I wrote a poem in similar format called "Seraphim of Glory" it's published if you would like to read it. I like that the format forces the reader to stop and slow down like the couple in the poem
