Still Mine

Sometimes, Love Doesn't Fade

I see the photographs,

You and him together,

Smiling, laughing,

The “picture perfect” couple.

You go to bed each night,

Alone.

“I’ll be up later,” he smiles.

Alone, waiting,

You drift off to sleep,

As he sits quietly,

Behind dim computer light,

Typing, pouring out

His innermost desires

To a distant love

From years gone by.

Reborn, rekindled,

The flame still burns.

You have no idea.

I try not to hurt you,

It was so long ago, yet

Weak and powerless,

I am overcome,

And realize,

There’s nothing I can do.

Through endless space,

And endless time,

The man you call yours

Really is still mine.
