Releasing You

Finding The Good After A Bad Breakup

A pair of souls, transformed

by the constant march of time,

Friends, then lovers

as close as two could be,

Rocked by betrayal's acidic sting

Driven to seek revenge

Into two bitter enemies,

The venomous hatred, stronger

than the love ever was.

Then, exhausted and spent

a thawing, a chill

Into cold, indifferent strangers

as if we'd shared nothing at all.

But now, I remember you fondly

as I release you to the wind

both for the time we shared

and the lessons learned

for without the time

I spent with you

I would not have become

my best me.
