Long day ends at last, long last.
Work begins to fade like the setting sun
so I walk with weary feet
to my escape vehicle.
I drive, radio whispering softly in my ears
until I reach the spot -
the spot where I drop my stress and burdens at the foot of
the stars --
the place where I accept their comfort.
They blink and dance atop my tension and misgivings
letting me know that all is well in the heavens.
All is well where they abide,
waiting in peace, sending their calm toward the earth
at light speed.
On this back road, no city lights invade
to quench their song.
The heavens sing aloud, and their pulsing
sounds to me like
an orchestra warming up for the big concert.
A bit loud and raucous,
notes colliding with notes,
first dissonant, then resolving into more.
Tones clash and come together in
mutual, beautiful harmony.
The concert begins.
I breathe in this music,
the music of the universe
and I am at
peace Long day ends at last, long last.
