Star-Gazing

A Summer Evening

Emblazoned in my mind, the central star

A memory that is the germination

Of a gospel spread to systems near and far

By a vast and planetary congregation

The word of truth, writ large across the sky

As bodies lay entwined beneath the night

As heavenly hosts meet our wandering eye

And proclaim that inhibition take its flight

Farewell to fear, farewell to self-control

Let the moon bear witness to the feverish embrace

That forges from these halves a stellar whole

And extends to this celestial body proper space

For chosen by the gods to love were we

A constellation for eternity
