What I learned in a world that stood still for a moment,

Was that life was smaller than I believed.

It was also sad and lonely.

And lacking due reprieve.

What I learned in a world that stood still for an hour,

Was that all those moments I saw coming,

And all of those moments that stayed,

Each one of those had been devoured.

What I learned in a world that stood still for a day,

Was that most I loved had gone away,

That all those things that meant to me,

Had not meant to them the same.

What I learned in a world that stood still for a week,

Was that I am humbled, and sometimes meek,

But loyalty and love, I had not forgotten,

Even when I am for the strongest days; weak.

What I learned in a world that stood still for a month,

Was that things will never be like they were,

Nor will they ever really change.

People disappoint, in exactly the same way.

What I learned from a world that will forever stand still,

Is I promise forever and love you I will,

For what I know now in a world that stands still,

I am changed, I am different, I am here…. by myself.
