Since There Aren’t Enough Poems About Black Men…
Imma do something 'bout that
Gonna start a series…
(Tap below for audio)
Wrenched absence is spent
from where you were
to where you went
the effect means me
awake 4:00 mornings
an unfathomable deficiency of ‘you sightings’
over undocumented geographicals
divided by exponential time
I’m sure caused monumental repercussions
on this side of the equation
Insurmountable math
Exhaustion of quantitative terms
I miss you Black Man
and the emotional theorems we could solve together
whilst the world primes machinery
grinds templates of consumer targets
and scheduled meetings
I’d heartbeat-snatch you on reflex
pave a conversation path
that takes us to the other side of evening realms
and honors soul beats
alongside track & field heats
with added love on repeats
sure guaranteed wins
Easy
honors you here
but too must wait…
…behind me
as I see
a divine ‘we’
Your eyes a mid-eternity stretch
on every awakening
are hide-and-seek depths of cosmos
sweet safety
sensitivity searching
to say
“Baby, you good?”
sans sound
Heaven not a place
but a person I met
capable of simultaneous travel
through multiple planes of existence
casts a side glance here
and there
in truth misses nothing
sees in me everything
since we are source creating haven
and MY GOD
how I’ve missed you unshaven
untamed organic Black Ore
with unobstructed views of melanin core
Lordlike perspective your vision a virtue
darkness collective cuz ‘ere dem cyaan hurt yu
S’up Afrika genes?
Lion-pride gaze gifted Ancestral scenes
Yet back here on earth
I crave every sight
Wonder where you have been
wish you’d stay for the night for intense meditations
Ahh the things we could say
since my spirit on fumes
BROTHA MAN—my King—
haven’t seen you today

"Your eyes a mid-eternity stretch on every awakening are hide-and-seek depths of cosmos..." feels so alive and absolutely captivating. Thank you for sharing!
The Dani Writer, this is a delightful, powerful piece that draws you in with the title and subject and then works so well as both a poem on the page and as a spoken word piece. Your vocal reading adds another stunning depth, really appreciate and enjoyed this piece.
Awesome!!! Pure & powerful!!! Love it!!!💕❤️❤️
The audio is perfect. The way you say it, makes it THAT much more satisfying and honorable. Thanks for sharing. 🖤
Awww, this was so gorgeous and divine! Also, your voice is so soothing! Loved listening to you reading!
Beautifully, passionately, authentically done, Dani. Loved getting to hear you read it as well.
So musical, philosophical and a little surreal in tone! 😊👏 Enjoyed this piece Dani. I really liked this part especially.. “the emotional theorems we could solve together, whilst the world primes machinery, grinds templates of consumer targets”. Great work. Hopefully we can get the audio to load..
Excellent words and hopefully a Top Story to send the message
