A Poem Of Youth

Sun glinting off silvered wheels

Skin glistening, legs pumping

Hair ruffled and yellowed

Laughter in the air

***

Friends surround me,

Taking turns to lead the way

Telling jokes at one another’s expense

Laughing throughout the day

***

Shorts and T-shirt dressed

Lightly tanned and healthy

No worries or fears

They're for other days

***

Time whirls like silvered wheels

From that time to this

Now dreams are all I have

Of those wonderful days

***

Still, such a joyous time I had then

The memories still burning bright

Keep me warm when times are tough

And I struggle through the night

***

Sun glinting off silvered wheels

Skin glistening, legs pumping

Hair ruffled and yellowed

In that joyous time
