shimmer

little cracks

"Color Study" Colored pencil and ink River 2022

a month ago a leaf fell

reds and yellows

coat a grey world

covering up those cracks

you know

the ones you don't let them see

but boy do you sparkle

with that first

perfect sunset

after the snow

creating a white sheet

melting through those same cracks

god did you shimmer

a goofball

a listener

an advice giver

a mood ring

telling yourself

you'd rather not start

melting into those cracks

invisible, looked at

not quite noticed

they aren't a collapsing bridge

a smile towards a world

a shiny world

that doesn't see those cracks

you could explain

we all like to

melt just a little

sometimes
