Sheer Drop

a love story

We stand together on the precipice

of love-pain with mixed feelings

my palm drenched in cold wet

Doubt

you have been here and

jumped and fallen many times

with the acceleration of the heart

prickling of awareness

mind racing but mouth gone dead

Your eyes of piercing gray

turn to me with storms brewing

intense, lighting sending chills

of fright and something else

traveling down my spine

one step closer our bare toes touching

the edge of that cliff-

I blow out breaths that stir the fog

your hands brush over me

calming and preparing

Whispered assurances are not necessary

between us- souls as intertwined as

our sweaty palms

Penetrating

gray meets soft hazel

our lips touch in sweet intensity

We jump

and Fall
