Shadow Heart
Her heart was once light
She was once a little girl with a heart of light.
Kindness and love made her shine bright.
Life is a monster and he took a giant bite.
Shadows both big and small are there now.
Light taken from the monsters who prowl.
Fighting is foreign she never learned how.
She was left to fend for herself too young.
She’s been beaten and she’s been stung.
Poisoned by the words of the tongue.
She struggles to remember the joy.
Anger from being treated like a toy.
He was a selfish and immature boy.
He knew what would make her complete.
A wish coated in all that’s good and sweet.
A hope that he angrily tried to deplete.
He didn’t want her to find her light again.
He used words and fists to deliver pain.
Everything he does for his own gain.
She broke the thread and found a beam.
Tiny drop of light as she got her dream.
Voice strong enough for her to scream.
He broke her but she learned how to heal.
She learned how to close herself and deal.
She learned to tell the fake from the real.
He uses her biggest dream as a way to control.
Veined with cruelty he’s a cold black hole
Shooting arrows that aim for her soul.
Evil destroys but it never wins in the end.
He can never undo what she was able to mend.
