Sempiternal Sanguinity

Seditious secrets stimulating,

shackle sincere serendipitous souls.

Sociopathic sins, sensations stole.

Succorers stabbed, surety slaying.

Strident squabbles, supporters suffocating.

Sanctimonious smears, sanctity sold.

Savage scoundrels sabotage, scold.

Shouldn’t sinister snakes stop speculating?

__

Sage swains seek sempiternal solutions.

Sending serpentine sadists scalding shade.

Sweethearts sojourn, synchronize steadiness,

Sufferance, solace, sagaciously slate.

Solidarity’s slain sans selflessness.

Success secures superlative soulmates.

*** *** ***

A sonnet about busy bodies who interfere in a couples relationship.

I chose to combine a Tautogram poem with a Petrarchan Sonnet. A Tautogram is a poem or text utilizing the same first letter for each word. (Greek: tauto gramma, “same letter”)

A Petrarchan Sonnet is also known as an Italian Sonnet named for the Italian poet Francesco Petrarca, 1304 -1374. The form was not created by him but by a string of Renaissance poets. Petrarca is noted for his perfection of the form. It's form is recognized as one of the two major forms of Sonnets. The other being Shakespearean/Elizabethan.

The fourteen-line Sonnet is a sequence of an Octave of eight lines ABBA, ABBA, which raises a question. This is followed by a Sestet of six-lines CDCDCD or CDECDE in response. My education continues.

That is truly a technical feat, your s string staged into an Italian sonnet. Impressive. I actually really enjoy reading Petrarch in the medieval Italian, it's mopey but beautiful. Poor Laura, dying of the Plague: but how else would he have gotten his laurels?

The alliteration with the letter "s" makes it read like a snake hissing the entire piece. This is incredible!

It's quite an intriguing and thought-provoking poem with a juxtaposition of contrasting themes and emotions. The first half portrays the darker side of humanity, while the second half seems to offer a ray of hope and a search for eternal solutions. Dear [scott wade], I hope this message finds you well. I have recently written a poem and I'm seeking feedback from an expert like you to help me improve it. I would greatly appreciate any tips or suggestions you may have to make my poem better. Neat idea to combine the two. While I was going through the first reading I thought I picked up on the rhythm, but then I thought... naw, that be too much work! 🤣 Shows what I know. That worked great!
