Second Wind
Gives lift

Such a beautiful kite,
All shades of blue,
Simple yet ornate,
Plain yet adorned
With the breeze
From the heavens
Flying high
Unfettered, until
The breeze gently slows
And the kite dips
Towards the ground
Perilously close,
it skims the treetop
And veers
Hard left
Wrapping string
around
clenched hand
Running
Pulling
Panting
Sweating
Running
Don’t stumble
Kite climbs
Running faster
And stronger
Second wind

Wonderful imagery!
So grateful for the second wind! Loved your poem!
I've never seen a kite like this! It's beautiful!😊
Final couple of lines are the encouraging words to the kite! Nice!
Ah, the art of kite flying. However, unlike when I was a kid, they are aeronautic wonders now and quite expensive (many). We just ran through a field hoping they would catch some air. I loved your poem, Colleen.
