Cognitive creative breakdown.

Not to be confused with writer’s block.

Nah.

Can write loads

but it’s all utter crap.

Non-emotive drivel absent logical thought,

noteworthy aesthetics,

or audience interest.

Readers scrambling for the exit.

You are front of the line.

But can scarce escape contamination.

Insidious onset.

Terrified of diagnosis.

Catatonic about treatment.

Could be neuronal degeneration in the prefrontal lobe

or

inexplicably

all synapses have done a backflip

are refusing anxiety meds

and biting their nails.

Anaphora loops present occluding 58% of anterior cerebral artery.

WARNING:

Emergency neurosurgery indicated.

Less than stellar prognosis.

Exploratory interventions fantastic for research

if you don’t mind,

are desperate,

lost and confused,

have given up hope,

don’t have dependents and/or next of kin.

Or

you could ride it out.

Follow writer’s guidance.

Weather this storm that feels unending

but never is.

Write total and complete gibberish for a while

and be okay with it.

Belching out last year’s woes.

Untreated digestive upset with works forever in progress.

Nobody likes it

but you always feel better after throwing up.

Get it out of your system.

Purge and purify.

Then see what’s left in there

and write about that.
