A head full of scars
Not from barbs and bars
Or even a stray car
No
They’re from the pain of life
They make me friendly but distant
Doing my best to survive existence

Personally, I don't think my best is going to cut it.
What a deep poem, sad, because it seems you are just existing with no joy.
