Red and blue
Values clash and burn.
Fighting with hateful jabs
Volleying cannons of exaggerated
Stories to demonize.
Illusions of self-righteous
Justification
Holier than thou
Better than you
I never do wrong
Truth and lies
Merged
Facts and opinions
Dissected
Red and blue
In a deadlock
Long lasting stalemate
Rather be the one right
Then actually repair the rift.
‘Whataboutism’
Tearing at the seams
Still pulling at fraying fibers.
The irony of it all
Both sides despise each other
For the others views
Both accuse of doing wrong
A lot of times
committed by accusing side
Surprisingly, horribly ironically
Amazingly and quite
Frightening
To see how much alike
Red and Blue are.

The Price I Pay
Here is a link to Randy Baker's Challenge: Prompted #4 *** Joseph It smells like desperation. Actually, it smells like bleach trying to hide the smell of urine, death, and desperation permanented into the studs of my new home. Even as the perky redhead in scrubs pushes me around in my wheelchair, blathering on about the different rooms and the schedule for the week, I can see a man pouring bleach in a bucket, preparing yet another attempt to mask the bits of horrid smell still peeking through.
