Rainbow Lorikeets - Trichoglossus moluccanus

they have ravaged

my apricot tree again

and for so many years previously now

and then sodded off

cause it got a little bit cold

took every single leaf

and sodded off

cause it got a little bit cold

i miss the squawky little buggers

squeaking and squawking

hanging upside down

awesomley coloured

squawky avian clowns

i miss their feats of speed

between the trees

racing the breeze

racing the sky

racing each other

there are plenty of Crimson Rosella's about

and a few King Parrots every now and then

but i miss the Rainbow Lorikeets

the colour and the chaos

a special blend

they brought an A game

every single time

the squawking

the fuss

the noise

trying to tell the girls

from the boys

enjoying every second

of this display

enjoying this natural beauty

enjoying it every day

Trying to tell the girls from the boys. I really loved that line! Beautiful poem!

I have some new appreciation for birds as I’ve grown older, I think it has something to do with the mindfulness associated with them (and watching them) that your piece seems to demonstrate. Loved this one Brenton!

  • Wow. They are beautiful. I have always enjoyed birds. When I was a girl, I loved listening and mimicking the love doves. Such fond memories there songs bring back. Great work

Aw, I loved this so much! I can see how they were annoying while destroying your tree, but they must have been so sweet and entertaining otherwise 🥲 It certainly sounds like it! Amazing imagery 😍
