Irreplaceable
Anticipate a single blade of grass
sheltered in shadow beneath a willow tree
No one to gaze upon its presence, no birdsong to accompany
Only interludes of lights and branches frolicking in the breeze
Reminders of belonging to a love of living and
clinging to carefree memories
Time has slipped away so quickly
Colors of daylight have turned to grey
It must be the moon rehearsing for its emerging one act play
If only those around me
noticed my anxious, deep dismay
they would realize how I long to be a part of them
a mere fantasy of thought away
Reach towards me with your loving whisper
no substitute will ever be found
until the final moment I am completely wrapped in your arms safe and sound
