Puppet People
People are like puppets, marionettes dancing,
Pulled by invisible hands, eyes glancing.
Side to side and back and forth,
Their daily ventures are more than a curse.
Told what to do and what to say,
Their lives are less than okay.
But never a word spoken, just prancing along,
Doing the bidding of those who sing their song.
Will there be a time of release?
A time when controlling puppets will cease?
I dare not venture to guess where or when,
But watch the antics daily looking for an end.
Power and corruption intertwine for the keeping,
Of puppet people who can’t see the future reaping.
The lives of each are there for the taking,
To think of it and its misery is breathtaking.
Politics and prejudice walk hand in hand,
Controlling puppet people all across the land.
But no matter the shouts from those who cheat,
Bound marionettes must dance and have no retreat.
So let those who control you play their games,
You have no self-will nor opinion of the same.
But to understand the why and its purposes plenty,
One must cut the ties that bind, the strings are many.
