Pumpkin home
A home can be in a feeling, a memory
It’s in a fall day,
Pumpkin patch, honey sticks(all colors and flavors), apple picking
Crunchy leaves on your boots
And your dad is grinning like a corny dad does,
Proud(he buys you that fresh apple cider you really wanted)
You think of him as you walk through the Halloween decorated outdoors,
You fondly remember all those wonderful fishing trips
Early in the morning
Deep blue water, cold
You’re with your family
It’s fall, and everyone is happy
No one is cold because we keep
Each other warm with our smiles and words
Later, dad starts a fire in the fireplace
Everyone make s’mores and hot chocolate
You think of your mother, too
You think of her and how much you love her
Your sisters are there, too
In your heart, like that fall day,
Where we couldn’t afford the pumpkins(especially the really big one we needed to make the roasted pumpkin seeds)
And stole them (your dad took them away in the truck)
We ran away, laughing
Because we didn’t really think fall would
Ever end.
