Proud of Oxford
An acrostic poem about Oxford. Entered and shortlisted in Oxford Brook’s Twin Cities competition
This poem was one of three poems entered in this year’s poetry contest hosted by Oxford Brooks University with the theme, Twin Cities. I don’t know which poem got shortlisted, but I think it’s a great achievement to celebrate all three of them.
Pride of our ancestors preserved in paintings.
Roman pillars keeping libraries young from
October to September with a blossoming art scene.
Underchamber music, bombastic theatres with dance.
Dearly beloved markers always as a home.
Of course this city has a gothic historic
Flare that could not be compared or duplicated
Oozing in charm and stories of decorum,
Xylophones, shoes and little elite elves and
Fairies dancing around in the alleyway corners
Ogling vintage teas and indie bookshops.
Real people ready to serve
Dearly beloved residents near and far.
