Each Leaf That Falls: A Poem of Loss and Despair

In the stillness of the autumn's eve,

A solitary tree begins to grieve,

Leaf by leaf, its tears descend,

Marking sorrow’s silent end.

Once vibrant greens now turn to gold,

Stories of summer, left untold,

Each leaf a whisper, soft and light,

Drifting away into the night.

Branches bare, a somber sight,

Against the sky, so cold and white,

Memories of life now fade away,

As winter’s breath leads them astray.

The ground is littered with what was,

Silent echoes of lost because,

Nature’s cycle, cruel and brief,

Bids farewell, leaf by leaf.

A tear falls from the sky above,

Mourning the loss of verdant love,

And in this moment, still and grave,

We feel the weight of what it gave.

Each leaf that falls, a piece of heart,

A reminder that we all depart,

Yet in their fall, a beauty seen,

In the space where they had been.

Thus, the tree stands, stark and bare,

A witness to the world’s despair,

But also to its endless grace,

In the leaves’ eternal, silent embrace.
