Physically apart, emotionally together

Poem during Covid-19

This is just a little something I wrote during a moment of peace during the day, back on March the 17th, before a lot of us went into lock-down:

Physically apart, emotionally together

No matter the hardships faced,

Whatever the storms may bring.

Even when masses become encased,

The songs of unity continue to ring.

Coughs may rack and breaths grow hard,

There is also a shoulder there to help.

Even if not felt, only words on a card,

Can lift the strongest oak and the meekest yelp.

Trials may test, actions may sting.

How others react may bring despair.

But then there are those with aid they bring,

And brave the risks to deliver care.

When adversity strikes, strangers can bond,

Find ways to lift one another’s spirits and hopes,

Friends both close and in the greater beyond,

Can strengthen the knots of the friendship ropes.

Though physically we keep apart,

Collective hearts beat closer than ever.

Even those at their low can take heart,

When others help find ways to strive together.

Take heart dear friends and strangers all,

The dawn shall always come once more.

No matter what times we all may fall,

The time for separation will soon be no more.

These days are hard, and indeed are a struggle for many of us, even after nearly 2 months after I first wrote this poem down. I myself struggle from time to time what with being in an industry where I cannot work from home but indeed go into my workplace to do what I do.

I do hope that you all stay safe and healthy during these times, and don’t forget to keep in contact with loved ones via phones, emails, however you can, whilst keeping each other safe.

And indeed be thankful to those in the Medical profession who are risking their lives every day to help bring these times to an end.

Because we will all be together again.
