Passionfruit
your lips still taste of passionfruit
Passionfruit rings
through balmy bars
on November wind
sun-showers beat
at peaky-blinders
and droplets deposit
ginger on skin.
You shimmer;
the summer fruit residue
that's caught in your curls
shines
in the light of speckled
sunspots
and it could have been an opal
powdered and blown through the window
because there's no explaining
an incandescence like yours.
Your hands are hot
despite the drench
and you have this way
a fire in your veins -
- we run to the car
under cover of stars
and your lips still taste of passion fruit.
Now every December
I feel your sweat
as I melt
into a lounge
and taste your kiss
as I dip into summer fruits.
You ring through the punch bowl
and the beads that trickle down the glass
it's spiked by heady forget-me-nots
that you sang under sighs
and with each sip
I sink further
into myself
and the leather loveseat
because nostalgia rings through every mulled
memory, that I thought would be lost to time
but passionfruit
still tastes
like you.
