Trip to the car wash
his toddler in the child's seat
car locked, keys inside.

Writer's notes: Written for the Snafu Senryu Challenge.
"The Prompt
Capture the essence of an awkward moment in a senryu poem."
Today, while waiting to meet a Facebook Marketplace buyer, observed people trying to gain entry into their locked car. Watched a good samaritan provide assistance. The car was opened. Smiling, their faces relaxed that their problem was solved.
As this situation played out, it reminded me of a snafu over twenty-three years ago. My son went to the car wash and had his son, my grandson, in the back strapped into his child's seat.
Who hasn't locked themselves out of a car? Admittedly, it happens!
Now, we go thru the drive-through car wash. Back then, the car wash had a hand-held wand selecting suds, water, or wax. Inserting the coinage for the length of time, quarters were entered into the control panel.
Thankfully, our local Fire Department came to my grandson's rescue unlocking the car door.
Thank you for reading! You are appreciated!

Heart in my throat, head spinning.
Nice Senryu! So glad to hear it wasn't one of those tragic stories. I much prefer the happy ending!!❤️
Oops 😅🤣

Oh no. Good thing For the happy ending..
Yes, panic city indeed, good one Babs 😊😊
For that reason, always carry a spare in your pocket.
Ooo, this one is scary. Happened to a woman in a WM parking lot one day long ago. I went in and bought a package of 6 wire coat hangers because they didn't have them individually. Rescue took 2 minutes. That's not so easy with newer vehicles. I have, of course, locked myself out several times.
What a nightmare!
That was scary 😦
I like the contrast between the innocence of the toddler and the stress of the father.
It definitely does happen and can be quite tragic on a hot day. Great job.
It happens more often than we want to admit...
👀😮🤣
Oh, my parents have experienced this before. I remember one day that my dad left me locked in the car with his keys by mistake and tried to use a coat hanger to open the car door. Somehow, that day, I found the strength within my little fingers to open my own buckle from my car seat, unlocking the door after I got out. It was a rude awakening from one heckuva good nap
panic mode for sure!
