“Focus on the step in front of you
and not the whole staircase”
Sometimes,
a project looks impossible.
We look ahead,
wanting something so much,
and think:
“How on Earth am I going to do that?”
When we first started to walk as a baby,
we started with one step in front of the other,
slowly,
until we feel more stable
and quicken our pace,
until we are running in the garden,
with mum and dad watching on
and ever so Proud.
We don’t really change that much as adults.
When we start a new job,
there seems to be too much to learn,
but after a while,
we wonder what we were worried about.
This quote can also apply to us physically.
For a person who is disabled in their legs,
a staircase can seem like a real ‘no, no’.
However,
we can start on those stairs,
literally one step at a time,
until, before we know it,
we’re at the top of the stairs.
Whether mental or physical,
when we achieve a big ‘thing’ in our lives,
we should be Proud of ourselves.
