A businessman sealing the deal

Thinking that his company is made of steel

His head held high with arrogance

Millions and millions made

He can retire now

But there’s millions more to be made

He isn’t satisfied so he will work one more day

The day turns into weeks

Weeks into months

Scamming the runts for his fortune

“I’ll never be caught”

He thinks confidently

Ignoring the probability

He doesn’t know that this will be definite

He thinks he made it

He thinks he is safe

He lets down his guard

Only to be put into his place

——

A gambler on a winning streak

Thinking he has the casino beat

His life savings is laid on the table

“I’ll be able to win double!”

But soon he will be in trouble

Bills upon bills he ignores

He’s in the ‘zone’

Reality scorned…

The dealer deals the hand

The rapid heartbeat begins

Time feels like it doesn’t have an end

Excitement; yet anxiety fills the atmosphere

Reasoning he doesn’t hear

Reality he chooses not to fear

The cards are dealt

Depression sets in

The possibilities comes to an end

He walks out empty handed

——

A few drinks down

The man craves for more

His house is only a few blocks around

Beer after beer

He finishes the night

He looks for his keys

He starts to question his sobriety

He ignores all signs

What could be going on in his mind?

Reasoning isn’t on his side

He continues like a fool

Driving down the road

He sees headlights in front of him

It’s too late to slow down

He swerves to the right

The police found him in the ditch that night

The car was unrecognizable

——

Once you think you got it, you don’t
