Not Your Everyday “Shhh!”

Inside your everyday world (I feel bad for you...and me too)

This silence you crave

ain’t really straightforward

Gotta be scented and warm

Fine-tuned by preferences that present effortless

Easy in its emptiness

As comfortable and cherished as steamed conveniences

at 5:30 in the morning pre-programmed against grievances

A quiet so soft it’s a cushion

The purest combed cotton 100% coziness

The connected concealed comma in all those unread sentences

The embrace with just the right amount of pressure

and the right length

A tranquility from the ethers offering ‘curled-up concentrations’

and—YUP—just the right amount of strength

A sanctum that surrounds

A sentience that profounds

in a world where deficits be downright overpowering

I’d cleave to such calm

a spiritual curtain for showering

a requisite cleanse for nominal function

when freedom gets swallowed in desperation gulps

and secrecy a sacredness deemed incongruent

This silence that craves you

is filled with endless evergreen lush

moment mystery opulence often masquerading in a hush

to caress assaulted spirits where noise permeated unimpeded

Behold the space where the pendulum swings back

and inner turmoil gets conceded

That altar of unconditional surrender

instills seclusion within your soul

A pacification needed when

daily living takes daily toll

No explanations necessary

No criteria and no test

Simply unadulterated serenity for the weary wanting rest

Symbols transform to sapphire

Seconds fuel meditation's fire

No price tag for this kind of peace

Cast cares aside

and commit the mind to f r e e f a l l

Divine being in [defined flesh]

never was your heart thus fashioned

to beat at robotic pace

Your realms belong to galactic spheres

celestial eternities

and a whole different kind

of grace

Noise pollution wasn't a phrase I heard much growing up. Figures, right? Silence could be found all around in abundance. Once something gets 'labeled,' it speaks volumes. Human beings now have to travel much farther afield to find real rejuvenative quiet like nature intended due to, well...human beings.

Be a voice for protection. Prevention. Our bodies, minds, and souls NEED this.

It's NOT too late.

I appreciate the time you've taken to read my poem. Please accept my heartfelt thanks and a virtual fist pump.

This is beautiful, and important. I've lived in the big city so long, I'm not sure I could handle silence. I never realized before how truly sad that is.

  • wow, I felt like diving in your words, so powerful. Especially these had a great effect on me: "Symbols transform to sapphire / Seconds fuel meditation's fire / No price tag for this kind of peace" Thank you!

  • We need to be protective of ourselves and others, I try to be both, great words Dani
