We danced
We drank
We laughed
We wrote letters to our lovers and poetry to the world
We listened to artists composing jazz filled with madness
We created demons for the thrill of danger and angels for protection
We wandered through streets full of lights and colours, drinking away our fears and sorrows
We couldn’t accept our existence is doomed
so we created new worlds, new dimensions, new realities
We saw Jesus Christ nailed to the cross in a circle of dancing fanatics celebrating their dead master
We saw homeless hiding behind dumpsters, shaking in an agony of withdrawal
We saw lunatics praying in the night, talking to creatures from their minds, whispering curses
We saw hobos moving through empty streets with the moonlight illuminating their confused paths and highlighting their desperate search for love and excitement
We saw drug addicts scratching chaotic thoughts on walls, crawling on the pavement, rolling in their own filth
We saw the most normal people in this world full of madness and hysteria
In a dark alley one man wrote on the brick wall: ‘The careless may not live forever but the careful don’t live at all.’
