Never ask a woman her age.

Not because its rude in itself,

But because depending on her stage

More questions will tumble down the shelf.

*

Married in her 40's

"Why are there no kids yet?"

Single in her 30's

"Desperate to get married, I bet."

*

Fabulous in her 50's

"You look great! For your age...

There's no way that's natural.

We all know that you're no mage."

*

When you're in your teens

And a creep comes along:

"I can't wait 'till your older,

we could have so much fun."

*

The 20's are enigmas

Never knowing what you'll get.

Varying from "You're just a baby",

To "Your act should be straight".

*

So don't say it's not sexist.

Wanting a number might not be.

But the painful words that follow

Surely are, you see?

*

Life bombarded by critics.

What we do what we wear.

Who we love and when.

Our image ready to tear.

*

It's not like it's a secret.

It's not like you can't know.

But next time you decide to ask

Know what we undergo.
