My Theory

we're all divergent

By HufflecupPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

what if we are all just chasing dopamine

I mean what makes humans truly unique is our imagination

we think about possibilities and what-ifs

we crave excitement

and new things

and once we find a thing we like

or a way of life that makes sense

or think we have found our purpose

we want more of that thing

we commit ourselves completely to that life

or every choice we make serves to benefit our newfound purpose

but I am the one diagnosed with a dopamine deficiency

I am part of a seemingly smaller population of people

labeled as ADHD

because our current idea of how happy and productive societies work

doesn't keep me stimulated

maybe it works for some people

and that is why we don't notice that everyone's brain works like a neurodivergent person

because some people get all the stimulation they need

and ignore all the other weird behaviors about themself

that I am now all too aware of in myself

I don't know

it's just a thought
