Part I

Would you believe

My story starts

When from within

I heard the beat of

My monster's heart?

That was before

My monster's heart

Turned to stone

That was before

My monster left me alone.

From the beginning

My monster never did cuddle

Tell me it loved me

Make me feel safe or snuggle.

My monster still blames me

When at the age of four

It says that I wanted to

Walk out the door.

To go to another home

To have a different life

That should have been a sign

My life had too much strife.

But NO, my monster

A half a century gone

Still blames that four year old

Like she did something wrong.

The monster now deaf

The monster now dumb

Has left me, its offspring

More powerful, but numb.
