My home with you

A poem

I take a deep breath in,

I exhale slow and I think to myself

how did we all get here?

How did the world become this?

My puppy nibbles at my toes,

my cat brushes up against my back.

The clack of my husbands keyboard fills the air.

And a warmness spreads inside of me.

The world is a mess,

and I hate watching the news,

but I feel grateful because,

It has brought me closer to you.

Oh yes do we fight and we yell,

but at night in your arms,

I have never felt more at home,

or at peace.

This world has made me cruel.

This world has made me hard.

But if it wasn't for our little family,

the world may have made nothing of me at all.

The slobber is growing on my toes now,

the cat hair growing on my shirt.

And I can't help thinking to myself,

I wouldn't change this at all.
