My ex

My ex, a person, once close to my heart,

Memories shared, that now, just fall apart,

A love once strong, now distant and weak,

Its flame, now extinguished, with nothing to speak.

We walked hand in hand, in the days of yore,

Together, we laughed, and explored,

But time has passed, and things have changed,

And our paths, now separate, have been arranged.

It's hard to let go, of what once was,

The memories of love, and its gentle buzz,

But life goes on, and so must we,

With a heart that's broken, but strong enough to see.

So here's to my ex, a person of the past,

A chapter of life, that has come to pass,

Though the memories may fade, and the love may die,

The lessons learned, will forever be nigh.
