It is the year twenty twenty two
Planet Earth in a mental ice age
It’s cold and the struggle is real for most
As many seek tools for survival
Sharp stones and wooden spears will not help you here.
Sadness, negative thoughts, fear, depression, anxiety, pain
Trapped frozen solid around the globe
Glaciers of emotions moving
Clumsily, aggressively, unaware
Eroding whatever gets in it’s path
Their glacial weight reshaping the world around us.
Some have succumbed.
Others have found ways to keep warm.
Others still learn to fly, unaffected by the land terrain, they soar like birds in the sky, having overcome their fears.
The courage it must have taken to take that first flight.
There are those who adapted and embraced their environment and harsh conditions. These are the orchids, the roses, the lilies,
Boldly sharing their beauty amidst the frozen world around them.
Their existence an inspiration.
A beacon of hope.
It is the year twenty twenty two
And there is promise of the melting ice
How close or distant we do not know.
Survival now means searching for and learning to use the tools we have now, staying open to new discoveries, facing our fears, and embracing the beauty around us.
Until the Ice Melts
About the Creator
Caro Lam
I am navigating life’s waters, riding the waves (when I can catch them), learning to go with the flow and keep my head above water, with occasional trips to the depths, or just floating on the surface and taking in the beauty around me.
