LOVE

Little Large Letter

Love.

A little large four-letter word.

A large, large word that means so much more despite being so little.

Yet the only type of love I ever seemed to recognize and acknowledge was the love between a man and woman. The romantic type of love. The Romeo-And-Juliet type of love. The fairy tale type of love. The cheesy novels type of love...

The love that we all seem to wait for. Long for. Crave for. The kind of love that promises you that there is a prince charming some where, riding a horse on his way to sweep you off your feet. And complete you.

And then boom! Happy ever after forever!

When I was younger, I really wanted to be that girl in the story. The girl that gets swept off her feet by a perfect prince charming with a perfect face!

But...

I wish someone told me that love was so much more...

So much bigger...

So much bigger than just the love of a man and a woman. Female and male. The love of lovers... I wish someone told me that love is so much bigger than some sweet seconds of passion shared in bed between lovers.

Love is huge.

Love is wider. Bigger. Larger...

It comes in so many different varieties and vessels and volumes and forms: The Love of spirituality. Love of family. Love of friends. Love of people. Love of culture. Love of art. Love of nature and the sea and the mountains and the forests. Love of monuments. Love of paintings and books and artifacts and movies and music and every artistic piece to ever exist. Love of education. Love of food. Love of restaurants and motels and hotels. Love of drugs. Love of sex. Love of exercise. Love of vacations. Love of life.

And can we talk about those little instances of warm love we would feel from our parents when we passed our exams. From our siblings when we surprised them with an awesome gift for their birthday. From our friends when we sat around at the lunch table, laughing as we tore the chicken to pieces...

But then, in my short period of living, I have discovered the greatest love of all.

The Love of you.

Love of yourself.

Even the Bible itself asked us to love others like we love ourselves. Meaning, there's no way you are capable of loving others if you don't love yourself first. Meaning, there's no way you can love your Maker, if you don't love what He made.

I'm not saying loving yourself is an easy journey but it is very possible. It takes a whole lot of time but it's worth every second.

So start.

Start now.

Start giving yourself that love.

That love you yearn for so desperately. That love you are waiting for so badly. That love that completes you and fulfills you and nourishes you. That love that makes you want to wake up every morning and chase your dreams. The kind of love that makes you look in the mirror and realize just how wonderfully and beautifully you are made both in and out. The kind of love that makes you look in the mirror and realize that you have always been a queen. A complete queen who has the power in her hands. All she has to do is love herself a little too much...

So Yes Queen!

Fall deeply, irrevocably, immensely and selfishly in love with yourself.

Love yourself.

Love you.
