It was by the water
Where we learned the truth
The definition of love
Without the fights
Screams and slammed doors-
It was written in history
Memories spiraling
Creating a map
Of where we came from,
Where we would go-
Only in time
Did we learn our path,
Laughing at the past
Lost in wrong turns
That became right.
Fickle fights and tears
Fade to laughter
Backseat to compromise
And adventure together-
Past faces fade to stranger.
Brown eyes take hold
Depth yanked me in
Willingness to drown
In a smile so sweet.
Beside the water,
The waves kiss-
Tickle bare toes
Sunset colors our night-
Preparing for another
Caring dream.
