searching for something

that us lovers can do

only surviving off the sweetest fruit

watered by the crest of mountain dew

only thinking of ourselves,

two thieves resolute.

maybe we would answer

if we only knew,

but won’t it put salt on the wound?

to tell you we’re sorry is our Trojan,

leaving nothing for you.

poet's notes ~ stream of consciousness behind the poem

two people consumed by one another that they take away the spotlight from others making the others jealous of what the two have. they are thieves of happiness, and the crowd is stricken by jealousy. but the two don’t understand the proclaimed error in their ways and telling the others that they (the others) live without love would only hurt them and leave them empty.
