Love
What is it to really love?
I am told that love
should be rare.
.
Love should be restricted.
Love should be saved
for that single individual
given to you by god
or the universe
or some skydaddy.
.
Shared only with
that special person.
.
The one that comes,
once in a lifetime.
.
--
.
Love is not a commodity.
It's not meant to be traded,
bought or sold.
or manipulated on some market
of the heart.
.
Love is the internal infinite
endorphin hit. Flowing
.
through veins
and vessels,
.
muscles,
and synapse.
.
Love is the drug
that never comes down,
never stops,
never slows
and is relentless.
.
You can't overdose
on love.
.
There is no license to love.
There is no regulation
or class
one should take.
.
You can't get a degree
in the subject.
.
But you can meditate
on its limitessness,
.
it's profundity,
and it's fiery magic.
.
Love is not in short supply.
It is always available
and it is free.
.
I give my love,
I receive it.
.
When done loving,
I wipe the salt stained cheek
and I love again.
Then again.
.
The well of love
is deep,
.
and never runs dry,
it overflows with expansiveness
and ancient wisdom.
.
Love pours
from my poet's heart
and the trauma
of my limbs.
.
Love does not care
for injury,
for love heals all
wounds,
.
in the past
in the present
in the future
.
now and forever.
