sigh escapes her lips, and once again the light returns. This time, lasting a bit longer, as if in response to her question. She watches carefully, adjusting her eyes to the brightness. The light dances across the grass and again vanishes.

She wonders again if this is all in her mind, maybe she's really asleep, safe and warm in her bed. Surely this a weird dream. She pinches her arm, the way people do in the movies. "Ouch!" she cries out.

Once again the light appears, ever closer, almost at her feet, then floats up, fading into the night.

Sure that there must be someone with a flashlight or something, she walks in the direction of where the light source may be. Only darkness.

This goes on again and again, the light appears, and she follows what she thinks is it's trail, trying to find the source.

Finally, frustrated and tired, she lays on her back on the dew covered grass and closes her eyes.

Almost as soon as her eyes are closed, the light reappears, hovering above her face. She feels the warmth of it, the brightness under her eyelids. Scared to open her eyes, for fear it will vanish again, she remains still.

Eyes closed, she offers her hand, palm up and the light follows. She feels the warmth on her hand, a smile on her face. Carefully, she sits up, hand out stretched, the light still in her palm.

Slowly she opens her eyes, the light grows brighter, not vanishing this time.

Instead, the warmth of the light begins to radiate through her hand, her arm, across her chest, filling her body.

A calmness, a peace fills her, as the light disappears.

She smiles, then laughs. Laughing at her foolishness, as the source of the light she searched so hard for was there all along.

The source of the light was her. All she had to do was look inward.
