Lies Desired for Polite Formality

Lies flow from our lips

with ease of a stream

answering questions

of polite formality

prosaic responses uttered

in social compliance

"I'm fine" "I'm good" "All is well."

as truth is undesired.

~

The dread of being sharp-edged glass

left in shallow waters

we enable and sooth

with false words.

~

Shift the mind's current

replace sediments;

succinct truths to inquires

silence insincere formality

let our words be a gentle tributary

merging into situations.
