Let Not the Time Stand Still

Because the past doesn't define you.

Let not the time stand still

Nor find yourself frozen within it

Let not old photographs' colours clothe you forever

Taste not stale grudges' sour grape flavour

Live not in the past

Nor on memories

Let not your first love be your last

Merely because it didn't last

Bear former friends no ill will

Let not the time stand still

Let not your life be stagnant

Nor become coldly complacent

Running endlessly in place

On the same tired terrain

Let go of your constraints

And be made free

Choosing to love enthusiastically

Trust courageously

And live daringly

Uproot yourself, dethrone yourself

And find the kindness within yourself

To make your void be filled

And let not the time stand still

Let not your judgments be judgmental

Nor your evidence anecdotal

Nor your roots too deep

Too entrenched to let you leave

Your nest or any redundancy

Let those roots morph into wings

And carry you on high

With a smile above everything

Let not your heart freeze

Nor close

Nor your feet grow too morose

To walk away

Straight into novelty

Let time not be wasted or killed

Nor let it ever stand still
